Jesus College (Oxford)

The Jesus College is one of the colleges of Oxford University. It was founded by Elizabeth I on a proposal from the clergy Hugh Price in 1571 for scholars from Wales. Price is often called due to its financial support, which enabled the creation only as " the true founder ". The members of the Jesus College came almost exclusively from the Principality until the mid 19th century. Even today there is a strong Welsh student group.

In 1907, the known as Lawrence of Arabia, British archaeologist and writer Thomas Edward Lawrence a scholarship to Jesus College. Other famous students were Baron Wilson of Rievaulx (1916-1995; civil Harold Wilson), British Prime Minister from 1964 to 1970 and from 1974 to 1976 as well as Party Leader of the Labour Party and the Indian economist Deepak Lal, Advisor to the World Bank and by 2010 President of the Mont Pelerin Society.
