Jeter-Pillars Orchestra

The Jeter - Pillars Orchestra was an American orchestra of the swing era, which was founded in 1934 by alto saxophonist James Jeter and the tenor saxophonist Hayes Pillars who had both previously played with Alphonse Trent. The band worked for ten years in St. Louis and took in 1937 for Vocalion. This remained the only recordings despite the long existence.

The Jeter - Pillars Orchestra was not considered particularly been trained jazz orchestra, although he belonged to major jazz musicians such as Harry Sweets Edison, Walter Page, Jimmy Blanton, Jo Jones, Kenny Clarke, Sid Catlett, Charlie Christian and Floyd Smith over the years.
