Jetpack (Firefox project)

Jetpack is a project that developed tools and frameworks, which should simplify the development of Firefox add- ons. The project has released an add-on, a collection of APIs, a runtime environment and a command line tool, can be created and executed with the help of add- ons, beyond even the so-called add-on Builder, a web-based Integrated Development Environment, which the SDK.

Applications developed with the SDK add- ons are written in HTML, CSS and JavaScript using the CommonJS conventions. It is not necessary that the user Firefox restarts when the add- ons are installed or uninstalled. The SDK APIs are hochsprachig, task-oriented and designed so that they work independently of changes between versions of Firefox.

The project had been a tool called Jetpack prototype, brought out, which has now been decommissioned. APIs that were provided by the Jetpack prototypes are not compatible with the Add- on SDK.
