Jettison
Jettison (English: jettison ) is the jettisoning of cargo from one ship to save the ship and possibly the rest of the load. The jettison means a case of the great general average, ie the damage is to wear jointly by ship, freight and cargo.
The jettison was already regulated in the Roman law in the so-called Lex Rhodia. The thrown overboard estate remained the property of the navigator because he had not given up. Who found the estate appropriated to the theft was guilty.
