Jeu parti

The Jeu parti ( altfr. jeu parti " Shared Game") is a lyrical genre of medieval French and Provençal poetry. The term is modeled on the Provençal term Joc partit for Partimen. The themes are also minne didactic nature.

As the Partimen is the Jeu parti one of two competing singers authored dispute poem. Two hypothetical cases constructed that exclude each other are compared and defended with subtle arguments and refuted on the opposite side. Unlike in Partimen here is a solution desired in the final stanza arbitration is often called, such as the Minne mistress.

The flower of Jeux partis was in the 13th century, from this time are more than 200 works received.
