Jeugny

Jeugny is a commune with 461 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Aube department in the Champagne- Ardenne region. It belongs to the district of Troyes and Canton Bouilly.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the Jeugny Mogne, a small tributary of the Hozain, about 20 kilometers south of Troyes. Two-thirds of its territory is forest ( Forêt de Jeugny ). Through the territory of the municipality performs the route of the 1996 disused railway line from Troyes to Saint -Florentin.

Neighboring communities of Jeugny are Machy in the north, Maupas and La Vendue -Mignot in the northeast, Les Loges- Margueron the southeast, La Loge- Pomplin in the south, Saint- Phal in the southwest, Fays- la -Chapelle in the west and Crésantignes in the northwest.

History

Between 1900 and 1910 founded André Ouvre a sawmill in Jeugny, later under the name of SARL scierie de Jeugny corporate name. In 1996, the last 30 agency which employs end sawmill was closed. An attraction in front of the sawmill in the Rue de la Gare was a steam engine governor and cast iron flywheel. The machine without boiler was set for demonstration purposes by a small electric motor in motion. With closure of the establishment and the railway line, the steam engine was placed in the amusement park Nigloland to Dolan Court.
