Longest lake in Poland

Jeziorak [ jeʑɔrak ] ( German designation: Geserichsee ) is the longest lake in Poland, in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, with an area of ​​3,219 ha and up to 13 m depth.

It extends about 27 km from Iława on the south bank towards Zalewo. It is connected with some smaller lakes through channels and is located in a stunning natural setting.

The lake was formerly on the border between East and West Prussia. 1860, the lake was connected by the canal for some kilometers to the city of Elbing.

In the southern tip of the lake at Iława the 82.4 acre island is Wielka Żuława ( United Werder ) with remains of an Old Prussian centrifugal or Wallburg.
