Jiaocheng District

Jiaocheng (Chinese蕉城区, Pinyin Jiāochéngqū ) is a municipality of the prefecture-level city in Ningde of Fujian Province. Jiaocheng 's city center and the seat of the municipal government of Ningde. The municipality is situated on the Taiwan Strait, north of the administrative area of the city of Fuzhou. Jiaocheng has an area of ​​1537.2 km ² and 417,500 inhabitants ( end of 2003, only residents with primary residence ).

Jiaocheng had a gross domestic product of 2.4 billion yuan in 2002. The GDP per capita was 10,192 yuan, which was the average of the Fujian Province.

On 1 September 2005, the municipality was hit by about 10 m high tidal waves of Typhoon Talim.
