Jiayuguan City

Jiayuguan (嘉峪关 市) is a prefecture-level city in western China's Gansu province.

In contrast to most prefecture-level cities in China Jiayuguan has no further subdivisions at the county level. It is so to speak, a city that was collected at the district level. The city is located at an altitude 1,642 m above sea level and has an area of ​​2935 km ². It is surrounded to the north, east and west by the administrative territory of the prefecture-level city of Jiuquan. Just to the south it borders the Autonomous County of Sunan Yugur belonging to the prefecture-level city of Zhangye. Jiayuguan is located at one end of the Great Wall.

Attractions

  • Great Wall: The section of the Great Wall from Jiayuguan is on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China since 1961.
