Jijia River (Prut)

The Jijia [ ʒiʒia ] (Ukrainian Жижія / Schyschija; Russian Жижия / Schischija ) is a right tributary of the Prut River in the Ukraine and Romania.

The Jijia rises in the Ukrainian Chernivtsi Oblast, near the Romanian border. It flows in a south-southeast direction and mostly crossed a few miles later, the border with Romania. In the upper reaches it passes through the city Dorohoi. It flows through the Vorkarpaten level east of Iasi. In the lower reaches it runs some 70 km parallel to the east -flowing Prut River before it flows into these after a total length of 280 km on the right side north of Gorban. The catchment area of ​​5757 km ² comprises Jijia.
