Jill Johnston

Jill Johnston ( born May 17, 1929 in London, † September 18, 2010 ) was an American author, journalist and LGBT activist.

Life

Johnston attended in her childhood different schools in Massachusetts and Minnesota. She studied at the University of North Carolina and graduated with a Master of Fine Arts from. After her studies she worked as a writer and wrote several books. In addition, she worked for many years as a journalist for the magazine The Village Voice. Johnston wrote, among others, under the pen name FJ Crowe. Johnston worked as a feminist and LGBT activist.

Johnston married Richard John Lanham, from whom she divorced in 1964. The couple had two children. 1993 married Ingrid Johnston Nyboe in Denmark. The couple married again in 2009 in Connecticut, United States.
