Jim Davis (Cartoonist)

Jim Davis ( born July 28, 1945 in Marion, Indiana) is an American cartoonist and the creator of the cartoon character Garfield.

Biography

James Robert "Jim" Davis spent his youth - as his cartoon character Jon Arbuckle - on a small farm with his father James, his brother Dave and his 25 cats that were in the care of his mother Betty. His parents were ranchers. Due to an asthma Davis was often forced to stay in the house, and so the young Jim spent his time drawing. His drawings came early for an award.
