Jim Hume

Jim Hume ( * November 4, 1962 in Peebles ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Liberal Democrats.

Life

Hume attended the Yarrow Primary School and Selkirk High School. Subsequently, he studied agricultural science at the Edinburgh School of Agriculture and acquired in 1997 and a master's degree from the business area of the University of Edinburgh. Hume worked in the family- owned farm in the valley of the River Yarrow Water in the Scottish Borders. He became involved in various agricultural and environmental organizations and projects. He is married and father of three children - two sons and a daughter. After his entry into the Scottish Parliament took his sons to the family farm.

Political career

In the 2007 parliamentary elections Hume first came on to the national elections. He applied not to the direct mandate of a constituency but was set to the first rank of the Regional Evaluation of the Liberal Democrats for the election Region South of Scotland. As a result of the election results the Liberal Democrats have a list of candidates and appoint Hume drew as one of seven MPs for South of Scotland for the first time in the Scottish Parliament. In the 2011 parliamentary elections, he was able to defend his position.
