Jim McGreevey

James Edward "Jim" McGreevey ( born August 6, 1957 in Jersey City ) is an American politician. He was the Governor of the U.S. state of New Jersey.

McGreevey was elected in 2001 and sworn in 2002. He is a member of the Democratic Party and was previously mayor of Woodbridge and a member of the Parliament of New Jersey. From 1990 to 1992 he was a member of the General Assembly, from 1993 to 1997 the state Senate.

On 12 August 2004 McGreevey gave a press conference in which he stated an affair with another man as the reason for his resignation.

McGreevey has a daughter from his first marriage with the Canadian Kari protection. From his second marriage to the Portuguese Dina Matos comes another daughter. McGreevey currently lives separated from his second wife and is situated in a divorce proceeding. He converted from the Catholic Church to the Episcopal Church of the United States of America.
