Jim Pappin
James Joseph "Jim" Pappin ( born September 10, 1939 in Copper Cliff, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and coach, who in his active years from 1958 to 1977 among others for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Black Hawks, California Golden Seals and Cleveland Barons played in the National Hockey League.
Career
Jim Pappin began his career as a hockey player with the Toronto Marlboros, for which he was active from 1958 to 1960 in the Ontario Hockey Association. He also played two seasons with the Sudbury Wolves of the Eastern Professional Hockey League. Before the season 1960/61, the attacker was given a contract with the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League, the farm team of the Toronto Maple Leafs. For Rochester, he played a total of eight years in the AHL and won with the team three times the Calder Cup (1965, 1966 and 1968). In the season 1963/64, Pappin made his debut in the National Hockey League for Toronto, which won the prestigious Stanley Cup straight away. He could repeat with the team from Ontario in 1967 this success.
On May 23, 1968, the Toronto Maple Leafs gave the player in exchange for Pierre Pilote on their league rivals, the Chicago Blackhawks from. With the team from Illinois Pappin then reached the finals again in 1971 and 1973 for the Stanley Cup, but lost with his crew each record winner Montréal Canadiens. His active career finally let the Canadians at the California Golden Seals and Cleveland Barons to finish, for he ever a game while standing on the ice from 1975 to 1977.
For the 1984/85 season Pappin got the job as head coach with the Milwaukee Admirals of the International Hockey League, where he was, however, released early after only 27 games. Then he pulled himself back from the final ice hockey. Pappin, who had participated in his career as a player at a total of five NHL All- Star Games, in 2000 took part in the Heroes of Hockey game in which he ran aground on the Toronto Heroes of Hockey.
