Jim Pollard

James Clifford Pollard ( born July 9, 1922 in Oakland, California, † January 22, 1993 in Stockton, California ), called The Kangaroo Kid, was an American professional basketball player. Between 1947 and 1955 in the U.S. professional league NBA and its predecessor leagues for the team the Minneapolis Lakers. On the side of George Mikan Pollard won six championships with the Lakers in the NBL (1948 ), BAA (1949) and NBA (1950, '52 -54). Pollard was 1.93 m tall and played on the position of small forward.

His outstanding college career at Stanford University, he had to stop due to the Second World War, since he was drafted for the U.S. Coast Guard. Subsequent Pollard played in the ABL at the San Diego Dons (1945 /46) and the Oakland Bittner's (1946 /47), before joining the Lakers in 1947. He ended his professional career in 1955 with 6'522 points scored in 497 games. His nickname he owes his extraordinary jumping ability.
