Jim Rash

James "Jim" Rash ( born July 15, 1970 in Charlotte, North Carolina) is an American screenwriter and actor who was seen since the mid-1990s to more than 60 productions. For the most part he accepts guest roles in comedy series. He is best known for his role as director of studies Pelton on the NBC sitcom Community. In 2012, he won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for the film The Descendants - Family and other matters.

Life

Jim Rash was born in Charlotte, North Carolina and grew up there. He attended Charlotte Latin School, where he had been teaching theater. Due to poor grades, he hung an additional year in the Lawrenceville School in New Jersey, which had a particularly good theater program. Then he initially returned to North Carolina where he was accepted at the University of North Carolina in 1994 and graduated with a bachelor's degree in radio, television and motion picture arts. He then moved to Los Angeles. While he was looking for roles, he worked as a waiter. After several small jobs, like a commercial for McDonald's, he received in 1995 a small guest role in the CBS sitcom Cybill. In 1997 he received his first recurring role in the sitcom The Naked Truth. It was followed by many more appearances in television series, especially in sitcoms, including some recurring guest roles, as in 1999 Katie Joplin or Thanks. In the 2000s Rash had in six episodes of the sitcom The wild seventies the recurring guest role of Fenton in the comedy series Reno 911! in 14 episodes held the guest role of Andrew. As of 2006, Rash had a starring role as Jonathan in the short-lived ABC series Help Me Help You, which was canceled after half a season.
