With Slipknot Mask

Like every member of Slipknot also carries root in the performances of a mask. First, a black bondagemask, which he took over from Josh Brainard and concealed most of his head, with pink hair. Currently a white jesters mask, similar to a death mask with rigid facial features.

Equipment

James Root plays in both Slipknot and Stone Sour guitar in his Signaturemodelle by Fender. This is different from the production models to highly modified, tailored to his music style Stratocasters and Telecasters that are used by woods, namely mahogany instead of ash, and pickup configuration ( two active EMG humbuckers instead of the typical Fender single coils ). Furthermore, the existing in other Fendermodellen master tone knob is missing. Both guitar models each exist in black and white color. In live performances, he also uses several guitars manufacturers Jackson, Charvel, Ibanez and PRS, as well as a Custom Telecaster and a Gibson Flying V

He continues to use Orange Rockerverb 100 Mk II amp with Orange PPC412 Speaker Cabinet. He also used Amplifiers by Rivera, Bogner, Budda and Randall.
