Jim Whiting

James "Jim" Whiting ( born January 11, 1951 in Paris ) is a freelance artist.

Life

As the son of an Englishman and a Swiss from the Canton of Grisons, he spent his childhood in 1954 in Salisbury, Zimbabwe, from 1959, in London. From 1969 to 1972 studies in Electronic Engineering & Systems Control at Queen Mary College in London and from 1972 to 1973 at High Wycombe College of Art from 1973 to 1974, he studied sculpture at St Martin's School of Art from 1979 he worked as a freelance artist in London.

His breakthrough came in 1984 for his work in the video Rockit by Herbie Hancock At the same time his collaboration began with the Swiss Skulpturisten Tinguely, who referred to him as his legitimate successor.

Some of the works Whiting was in 1987 to see the avant-garde amusement and " fair of modern art " Luna Luna by André Heller.

From 1988 to Whiting reached his machine theater Unnatural Bodies for several years in various cities with great success. In Basel, the first version of Bimbotown was seen from 1992 to 1994, from 1995 in Leipzig.
