Jim Williams (Florida)

James Hunter Williams ( born June 17, 1926 in Ocala, Florida ) is a former American politician. Between 1975 and 1979 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Florida.

Career

James Williams studied political science at the University of Florida. He later worked in Ocala in the real estate industry. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. In 1974 he was elected to the side of Reubin Askew to the Lieutenant Governor of Florida. This post he held between 1975 and 1979. Yet he was assistant to the governor.

1978 Williams joined unsuccessfully in the Democratic primary for the office of governor of Florida. In 1979 he became deputy under President Jimmy Carter U.S. Secretary of Agriculture. Later he continued his previous work continued in the real estate industry in Ocala. He made himself strong for the environment in his home. He was a board member of an organization for the protection of Lake Weir, a lake in Marion County.
