Jimi Heselden

James William " Jimi " Heselden OBE ( born March 27, 1948 in Leeds, † 26 September 2010 in West Yorkshire ) was a British entrepreneur.

Originally from Leeds Heselden initially worked as a miner from the age of 15. Later he founded the company Hesco Bastion, whose chairman he was. With this company he produced a collapsible container that can be filled like a gabion with sand or earth; these protective barriers are used in the military, but also in case of flooding or erosion. In December 2009 he took over the company Segway Inc., which manufactures the Segway Personal Transporter. With such a standing scooter he had an accident 26 September 2010 death at the age of 62, when he fell down a cliff. According to the Sunday Times, he was one of the 400 wealthiest British. In addition, he was honored with the Order of the British Empire.
