Jimmy Borland

James Andrew " Jimmy" Borland ( born March 25, 1910 in Manchester, † January 31, 1970 in Montreal, Canada ) was a British ice hockey player who in 1936 with his compatriot Olympic champion among others.

Career

James Borland, who emigrated as a child with his family to Montreal, Canada, in 1933 returned back to Britain, where he received a contract with the Grosvenor House Canadiens, with whom he won the English League in his first year. After the defense had in the meantime suspended for one year with ice hockey, he played from 1935 to 1937 as a team captain for the Brighton Tigers in the English National League, where he then ended his career. He then returned to Canada.

Because of his service to the British Ice Hockey Borland was inducted into the British Ice Hockey Hall of Fame in 1993.

Internationally

For the UK Borland participated in the World Cup 1934 and the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch -Partenkirchen part.
