Jimmy Butler (basketball)

Jimmy Butler III ( born September 14, 1989 in Houston, Texas ) is an American professional basketball player who stands at the Chicago Bulls under contract. He plays the position of shooting guards or small forwards.

Life

Butler's father left the family when Butler was a toddler. At the age of 13 years and his mother was no longer interested in him and put him in front of the door. In a summer basketball league before his senior year at Tomball High School, he was from Jordan Leslie, a freshman football and basketball player in school, who challenged him to a three-point betting throwing noticed and the two became friends. As a player at the Tomball High Butler scored on average 19 points and 8 rebounds per game. In the 2006-07 season he was elected to his team 's most valuable player.

College

After high school he went to the Tyler Junior College in Tyler. After his first season, he could have gone to the University of Kentucky, he could have made the direct jump to the NBA there with high probability, but he opted for the Marquette University, when he saw the best chance of a good academic degree there. He reached here an average of 5.6 points and 4 rebounds per game. In the 2009-10 season, Butler was awarded the All- Big East Honorable Mention.

NBA

Jimmy Butler was selected in the 2011 NBA Draft as the 30th choice of the Chicago Bulls. In his rookie year he was little used and finished the season with an average of just 2.6 points per game.

After Chicago Bulls veteran Luol Deng had failed due to an injury, Butler was given the opportunity to play more often and be put to the proof.
