Jimmy Carter Library and Museum

The Jimmy Carter Library and Museum ( German: Jimmy Carter Library and Museum) in Atlanta in the U.S. state of Georgia is home to the documents of the U.S. president Jimmy Carter and other material from Carter's reign and life. The library also has other exhibits, such as the U.S. Bill of Rights or the Nobel Peace Prize by Jimmy Carter.

Library and Museum are (even if some parts of the U.S. government and also of her are managed, other parts are private ( and privately managed) ) led by the National Archives and are part of präsidentialen library system. Private guided parts of house offices of Carter and the Carter Center, a non- profit organization for human rights.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place on October 2, 1984. The opening took place on 1 October 1986, Carter's 62nd birthday, instead.

The building (library and museum) comprises 6,480 sqm, with 1,419 sqm of exhibition space and 1,841 m² of warehouse space. The library contains 27 million pages of documents, 500,000 photos and 40,000 other objects, as well as numerous films, videos and audio cassettes. This collection covers all areas of the Carter administration ( foreign and domestic policy ) to the private life of the former president and his wife.
