Jimmy Casper

Stage win Tour de France 2006 Three Days of West Flanders in 2007

Jimmy Casper ( born May 28, 1978 in Montdidier (Somme ), France ) is a former French cyclist.

He was a professional cyclist from 1998 and stood at various French cycling teams under contract.

During his professional career, he was often in one-day races and stages of successful tours as a winner, including in Germany Tour ( 1999, 4 stage wins ) at the Grand Prix Cholet - Pays de la Loire ( 2002), the Grand Prix de Denain ( 2005, 2006, 2009, 2011) and the Châteauroux Classic de l' Indre (2005, 2009). In 2006 he achieved his biggest success, he won the first stage of the Tour de France in the final sprint. He achieved the feat in his first two completed races in the Tour de France in Paris, 2001 and 2004, respectively to occupy the last place overall ( 144 or 147 ) and to win the " Red Lantern". In the 2006 Tour de France he missed this scarce and was with room 138 next to last. In 2008 he failed in the Tour on the 17th stage of the waiting period and retired.

On August 9, 2008 it was announced that in 2008 Casper traces of cortisone glucocorticoid were discovered in the urine during the Tour de France. Casper established the positive findings with the fact that in the renewal of his certificate for taking asthma drugs another preparation was noted and he had failed to obtain approval for the new product at the French Cycling Federation. Later this was confirmed and Casper was acquitted of charges of doping.

From 2009 to 2011, he ran for Saur - Sojasun (2009 still under the team name Besson Chaussures - Sojasun ). For the 2012 season, he signed with AG2R La Mondiale one-year contract with an option for another year.

End of the 2012 season Casper announced the end of his career. Beginning of 2013 he was working as a sports director at the DN2 - amateur club EC Raismes Petite- Forêt. After a short time he separated again from the club because he did not imagined sufficiently involved. In March 2013, he announced to be in contact to a DN1 - amateur club and want to find a job as sports director.
