Jimmy Chappell

James William " Jimmy" Chappell ( born March 3, 1915 in Huddersfield, United Kingdom, † April 3, 1976 in Pinellas County, Florida, United States) was a British professional ice hockey player in 1936 with his compatriot Olympic champion among others.

Career

James Chappel emigrated at the age of 10 years with his family to Canada Ontario, where he first played hockey. After the attacker 1931-1934 there for the Oshawa Collegiates and the Whitley Intermediates was active, he returned in 1935 returns to its British home where he was on the following three seasons for the Earl 's Court Rangers in the English National League on the ice. He then played two seasons for the long Scottish Teams Fife Flyers and Dunfermline Vikings. With the outbreak of World War II Chappel joined the British army in which he served until the war ended in 1945. He then continued his career as a hockey player and played from 1946 until his career end of 1949 for the Brighton Tigers in the ENL, whose championship he won with his team in 1947 and 1948. Following his career, he returned with his family to Canada.

Because of his service to the British Ice Hockey Chappell was inducted into the British Ice Hockey Hall of Fame in 1993.

Internationally

For UK Chappell participated in the World Championships in 1937 and 1938, and the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch- Partenkirchen, 1948 in St. Moritz in part.
