Jimmy Eat World
Jimmy Eat World is an American band from Mesa, Arizona.
Career
Jimmy Eat World was founded in 1993 by singer / guitarist Jim Adkins, drummer Zach Lind, guitarist Tom Linton and bass player Mitch Porter in Mesa, Arizona. The band's name comes from a drawing, painted Toms younger brother Ed at the age of eight years due to a dispute with his somewhat overweight brother Jim and Jimmy Eat World called to express his brother was so thick that he could eat the whole world. When Tom Linton saw the picture, he was of the ( grammatically incorrect) lettering so impressed that he proposed to name the band after that.
In 1994, the band recorded their self-financed debut album, Jimmy Eat World. It was published with a print run of only 2000 pieces at the Independent label Wooden Blue and is now a coveted collector's item. Shortly after, bassist Mitch Porter left the band for personal reasons and Rick Burch, another school friend who was a new member.
Discovered in 1995, a talent scout and the band Jimmy Eat World signed a recording contract with Capitol Records. There, in 1996, the band released their second album Static Prevails, which became a moderate success in the U.S. and led to extensive touring. Across the Atlantic, the CD due to lack of commitment by Capitol Records but was not published.
1999 also produced album Clarity was released initially only in the U.S., where Jimmy Eat World now playing to sold-out venues. The single Lucky Denver Mint was first published by Capitol Records when the song on national radio had long been a success. To really make the leap to Europe, the band of his own money bought large amounts of the album and sent it to Europe. Clarity sold so well that the band organized a five-week tour of Europe in the short term, especially in Germany. In this context, we also saw the separation of Capitol Records, which was only right the two parties.
For the band, the separation of the Capitol was an act of liberation. The recordings for the album Bleed American eventually financed itself again, primarily with part-time jobs and from tour receipts. After the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001 in the U.S., the album Bleed American was subsequently renamed Jimmy Eat World, the eponymous single in Salt Sweat Sugar.
After a months-long worldwide tour Jimmy Eat World 2003 started to record the fifth album futures, but had to after some time find that they were dissatisfied with the results. With a heavy heart she ended the collaboration with long-time producer and friend Mark Trombino and looked around for a new producer, they finally found in Gil Norton.
While the songs on Clarity extravagant and experimental, were, however, more pop on Bleed American, harder and a whole more accessible, was the fifth album released in late 2004 futures a successful symbiosis of these two directions. Futures rose in the U.S. at number 6 on the charts, and also reached in Europe, supported by the singles compilations taken Pain and Work, high sales figures. In the U.S. alone, 599,000 copies were sold.
The album Chase This Light was released on 16 October 2007 in the U.S. and October 19 in Germany. Single releases which are Big Casino and Always Be.
In the fall of 2010 appeared with Invented the seventh studio album.
Some of the band's songs were in some soundtracks of certain video games such as " Tony Hawk's Underground 2", " Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition" or "Need for Speed Shift 2 " is used.
2012 was the band on Twitter and its Facebook page announced that work had begun on their eighth studio album.
On 7 June 2013, the eighth studio album by Jimmy eat world appeared with the name " Damage". The song outcoupling this was "I will steal you back".
