William George "Jimmy" Hartwig ( born October 5, 1954 in Offenbach am Main ) is a former German football player, coach and theater actor.

Private life

The son of an African American GI and a German mother is metal worker.

Its active football career lasted until 1988. Since then Jimmy Hartwig involved in various projects for the football youth development. He also hosted soccer TV shows (including the first call-in show of the German television right in the middle at the German Sports Television end of the 1990s ) and was in Weimar, Wolfsburg, Leipzig, and soon in Luxembourg on the theater stage.

In 1989 he was diagnosed with cancer and needed a few years to fight successfully against it. Since then, Hartwig promotes cancer checkups.

Jimmy Hartwig is the father of actor and presenter Daniel Hartwig and two daughters. He now lives with his family in Munich.

Football career

He began his career in 1972 on the Bieberer mountain at Kickers Offenbach. In 1973 he was loaned out to VfL Osnabrück. In 1974 he moved to TSV 1860 Munich, with which he rose to the Bundesliga in 1977. From 1978 to 1984 he played for Hamburger SV, with whom he became German champion three times and won the European Champions Cup. In this team he was used as a defensive midfielder. In 1984, he joined the 1st FC Cologne and came 1987 on Austria Salzburg to FC Homburg, where he had to end his career in 1988 with a knee injury. Hartwig played twice for the German national football team.
