Jimmy Waite

Jimmy Dean Waite ( born April 15, 1969 Sherbrooke, Quebec ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who played in the Nuremberg Ice Tigers of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

Career

Waite played for the Chicoutimi Sagueneens in the Canadian Junior Football League QMJHL when he selected at the NHL Entry Draft in 1987 as eighth overall by the Chicago Blackhawks. After another year in the junior league, in which, however, he made ​​only 16 games because of a broken collarbone, the Canadians finally joined the Organization of the Black Hawks, for which he his first 11 NHL games played in the subsequent period. In the following three years to 1992, he ran mainly on the farm team for Indianapolis Ice of the International Hockey League, but also came to some NHL inserts. 1993 transferred the Blackhawks in exchange for Waite Neil Wilkinson to the San Jose Sharks, which he, however, after only a year and 15 appearances left again in the direction of Chicago. There, the goalkeeper shuttled back to 1997 between IHL and NHL, where he made most of the games for Indianapolis Ice, only a total of five for the Blackhawks. In 1997, the 1.80 m wide French-Canadians moved zuimmer again in lower leagues, in this case the American Hockey League for the Springfield Falcons and the IHL for the Utah Grizzlies.

For the 1999/2000 season was obliged Jimmy Waite as a " free agent " of the Toronto Maple Leafs. After two years and 105 appearances for the farm team St. John 's Maple Leafs, it pulled the goalie but to Europe, where he hired at the mosquitoes food from the German Ice Hockey League. Over the next three years Waite was a safe support for the ERC Ingolstadt and always managed to qualify for the play- offs. In the 2008 /09 season, the team missed the finals and there was criticism at Waite. Nevertheless, his jersey number 29 at ERC Ingolstadt has been locked. For next year, the ERC Dimitri Paetzold committed as successor to Waite, so he left the club after six years. In January 2010, Waite, who was vertragslos in the meantime, was committed by the Nuremberg Ice Tigers.
