Jimmy Wilde

Jimmy Wilde ( born May 12, 1892 in Tylorstown, † March 10, 1969 in Cardiff ) was a Welsh boxer who was also known as Mighty Atom. He is considered by many experts, such as the " Ring Magazine " as the best flyweight of all time.

His career lasted according to records of 1910 up to 1923. However, it is assumed that he boxed professionally since about 1907. Wilde was considered a very strong impact, especially with the right punch hand, the opponents but also provoked often with deep hands and feints. He was also very agile on his feet. 1914 Wilde was European champion. The world champion flyweight title he won in 1916 against Young Zulu Kidd. In the last fight of his career, he lost the title to Pancho Villa from the Philippines.

Most of the fights are not officially recognized Wild. He later admitted to having completed over 800 fights, but this is likely to be one of those. In 1990, he was inducted into the " International Boxing Hall of Fame".
