Jindřich Fügner

Jindřich Fügner ( born August 10, 1822 in Prague as Heinrich Anton Fügner, † November 15, 1865 ibid ) was Czech businessman and sports official.

Life

Fügner was a dealer, who in a long-term, some foreign studies appropriated a broad general knowledge and fluent in several languages. He inherited from his father the family trading company and later took over the management of an insurance agency.

In addition to his profession he devoted himself to his hobbies music and sports and was socially very interested. When he met in the circles of the Czech national movement Miroslav Tyrš, he helped with the implementation of the idea of ​​starting a Gymnastics Federation. Fügner then became the first chairman of the newly-launched on February 16, 1862 Sokol Pražský. His merit is the construction of the first gymnasium in Prague.
