Jing Haipeng

Jing Haipeng (Chinese景 海鹏/景 海鹏, Pinyin Jǐng Hǎipéng; * October 24, 1966, Shanxi Province, China) is a Chinese Taikonaut.

Jing Haipeng is a fighter pilot in the Chinese Air Force, where he has accumulated 1,200 flight hours with the rank of lieutenant colonel. In 1990, he completed his training at the pilot school of the People's Liberation Army.

1998 Jing was selected as an astronaut on the Shenzhou space program of China's space agency. He was one of six taikonauts who trained for the mission, Shenzhou 6 and finally belonged to the backup crew for this flight.

On 25 September 2008 Jing started with the two other Zhai Zhigang and Liu Boming taikonauts with the spacecraft Shenzhou 7 into space. Shenzhou 7 was the third manned space flight of China and the first in which a spacewalk was conducted.

Jing was then commander of the spaceship Shenzhou 9, which launched to the space station Tiangong 1 on 16 June 2012. He was the first Chinese astronaut who has completed more than one space flight.
