Jinonice

Jinonice ( German Nino joke) is since 1922 a city district of Prague ( Czech Republic). The district is located in the hills south-west from the center and belongs to the administrative district Praha 5

Location

Jinonice is a residential area and formed after its incorporation originally the city district Prague XVII. The hillside Vidoule and Devin there was no suitable area for the construction of skyscrapers. Despite the scattered construction are located in the district of large industrial companies that emerged as early as the twenties, like Walter, Motorlet and associated companies. The German School of Prague is located in this district.

Due to its relatively quiet location in conjunction with good transport links ( metro stations Jinonice and Nové Butovice, highway E50) many single-family homes were built in the 2000s.

History

Jinonice heard with Butovice of the oldest communities of Prague 5 The first written mention is in 1088 in the establishment of the list fellows chapter Vyšehrad. Probably existed in Jinonice a fortress, or at least a large yard at the foot of the hills. At this point, probably in 1665 a small castle and brewery built by the Schwarzenberg family to which changes in the style of classicism were made in the 19th century. After the Thirty Years' War - the Battle of White Mountain just a few miles away had taken place - stood in Jinonice only a few houses, in the course of the 19th century, the population increased again significantly. In 1991, the city had 2239 inhabitants. In 2001 Jinonice consisted of 585 houses where people lived in 2962.
