Jintotolo Channel

Geographical location

The Jintotolo Channel is a strait in the Philippine archipelago and connects the Visayan Sea to the east with the Sibuyan Sea to the west.

To the north is the island of Masbate, Panay in the south. The channel itself lie to the north and to the south the island Jintotolo the three small Zapatos Islands. In the south, Pilar Bay forms a large Meeresausbuchtung.

The approximately 40 -km-wide channel is an important shipping route that is backed by a lighthouse on the island Jintotolo. It was built in the 1890s and shows every 10 seconds three white flashes.
