Career

As a hockey player

As a teenager, he joined the Bohemians Prague with ice hockey and joined in 1965 as part of his military service to the Army Sports Club Dukla Jihlava ASD. In the following three seasons, he was twice Czechoslovakian champion and moved to Sparta Prague in 1968, where he played until 1979.

In the season 1979/80 he came to the EV Landshut, where he was best with 81 assists in the league. Only his teammate Mike Nash had more points than Kochta, who with 144 points was 46 points ahead of the third party, Marcus Kuhl. Even a year later it was not enough to scorer. A point was missing him on Dick Decloe. What was surprising was then named to the 2nd Bundesliga for EHC München 70, who went bankrupt in the course of the season.

While it was expected another change of Kochta, he said goodbye to the high-class ice hockey and was player-coach at the newly founded EC Hedos Munich. Under his wing several young players in Munich grew up, and with Kochta the team rose to year after year. In 1986, he hung up his skates at the final nail.

Kochta took several times in international competitions such as the Olympic Games 1968, Olympic and 1972 World Ice Hockey Championships (1971, 1972, 1973, 1974). At the World Championships 1972 he won the gold medal at the Olympics one silver (1968) and bronze ( 1972).

As a hockey coach

As a coach, he was in the 1986/87 season in Italy at the HC Merano and 1987/88 the EV Füssen active. He then returned to Munich and led the team of the EC Hedos Munich in the Bundesliga. In the turbulent times in Munich Hockey but not only, the entire team has been turned inside out, but also committed to a new coach.

As a result, he coached the EHC Klostersee, the Heilbronner EC, SC Memmingen, the Bundesliga Team of the Mannheimer ERC, the EHC Biel in Switzerland and the DEL Teams SG foxes Saxony and Revierlöwen Oberhausen.

Since the middle of the 2002/03 season he coached the team of Dresdner Eislöwen. In 2005, he made with them the rise of the league in the 2nd Hockey League and immediately formed a competitive team that penetrated to the semifinals of the playoffs. In the following season, this success could not be repeated, and after a series of defeats Kochta resigned in early February 2007 by his office.

One of Kochtas great passions is tennis. Very intense he cared about the career of his 1975 and 1973 -born daughters Marketa and Renata Kochta who competed in all four Grand Slam tournaments in 1994 and were able to post wins including against Gabriela Sabatini and Anke Huber.
