Jiří Pernes

Jiří Pernes ( born July 4, 1948 in Svitavy, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech historian.

Life and work

From 1984 to 1990 he was Director of the Historical Museum in Austerlitz from 1990 to 1992, he held the position of Director of the Moravian Museum, in 2011, he worked as director of the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes. Jiří Pernes lectures at the Jan Evangelista Purkyně University Ústí nad Labem and Masaryk University in Brno.

Pernes works at the Institute of Contemporary History, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic ( AV ČR Ústav per soudobé Dejiny ) in Brno ( Czech Republic), he specializes there on the Moravian, Czech and Czechoslovak history of the 19th and 20th centuries.
