Jizerská padesátka

The Isergebirgslauf ( Czech name: Jizerska padesátka ) is a ski marathon, starting and finishing in Bedřichov and one of sixteen rounds of the Worldloppet series. The main run leads over 50km and is discharged in the classical technique.

History

The Isergebirgslauf to have originated as a test run to check the performance of the climbers of TJ Lokomotiva Liberec in the late 1960s, which thus prepared himself into the high mountains to the expeditions.

The first official run was conducted on 20 January 1968, 56 runners. He has performed across the Jizera Mountains Bedřichov after Kořenov and back. The first winner was Joseph Driml from TJ Lokomotiva Liberec. In the third round in 1970, has involved 194 runners. This run came therefore to a notoriety because all participants of the mountaineers expedition to the Huascaran in Peru, who participated in the run, there four months later under a massive landslide were killed. So the run from the fourth year was carried out as Memorial Expedition Peru 70. Since then, the popularity grew, so that by the year 1977 7.863 participants were at the start. After the political changes in 1989 the number of participants from decreased significantly, but could in recent years to stabilize at about 2,500 to 3,500 participants. In 1995 the term was included in the euroloppet series, but now is not longer part of the series. The course had four times ( 1988, 1990, 1998 and 2007) to be canceled due to lack of snow. The ski race was recorded in 1999 at the annual General Assembly, held the Worldloppet in Hayward, Wisconsin (USA) in the organization. Since the 2000s, the term is dominated by the success of Scandinavian athletes. The Isergebirgslauf was repeated part of the Marathon Cup and belongs since 2011 to the racing series Ski Classics.

Since 2002, the circular route over 50km with the same route, at the Jizera and the chalet Smědava ( Wittig house ) passes organized. The starting height (lowest point) is located at the ski stadium in Bedřichov at 740 m above sea level, the highest point two kilometers west of Mount Jizera at altitudes over 1,000 meters. NN. In addition to the main deck there is a run over 30 km in the skating technique and a run in classic technique over 25 km.
