JJK Jyväskylä

JJK Jyväskylä ( officially: Jyväskylä Jalkapalloklubi or short JJK ) is a Finnish football club from the city of Jyväskylä, central Finland.

History

The club in 1923 as a general sports club under the name of Jyväskylä Palloilijat ( JYP ) was founded. In 1977 the Hockey department of the club and the football section split - JYP -77 was born. In 1992 JJK was finally established as an independent football club in the city.

In the 1998 season, the club from the Ykkönen, the second highest league in Finland rose from the third-rate Kakkonen. Only in 2006, managed to rise again in the Ykkönen where you could get stuck right in the top group and the 2007 season ended on a respectable third place in the table. The following year they supplied with the FC Viikingit that was previously relegated from the First Division in the year, has long been a battle for first place, the right to direct promotion to the top division, the First Division. Finally was able to JJK, also thanks to a superior Babatunde Wusu, who scored 22 goals in the season and thus scorer, prevail and so the club for the first time rose in the history in the First Division on. The team finished their first Erstligasaison 2009 to second from bottom and secured the league in the relegation to the Second of the Ykkönen, Kokkolan Palloveikot.
