Joachim Friedrich Henckel

Joachim Friedrich Henckel ( born March 4, 1712 Prussian Holland, † July 1, 1779 ) was a surgeon at the Charité in Berlin.

He led in 1769 by the first Caesarean section in the course of the linea alba to a living woman. The child survived, the woman died later probably due to peritonitis. Due to this performance, Frederick II ordered Henckel professor of surgery and obstetrics and Councilor at Crown Prince Friedrich Wilhelm. Henkel was later Director of the Charité.
