Joachim-Friedrich Lang

Joachim -Friedrich Lang ( born 14 September 1899 in Montigny- lès -Metz, † April 16, 1945 at pillau ) was a German officer, most recently Major General in World War II.

Life

After the invasion of France long fought on the Eastern Front. There he received on 14 June 1942, the German Cross in Gold. As colonel of the 481st Grenadier Regiment Lang was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on 4 September 1943. On June 30, 1944 Lang was appointed commander of the 95th Infantry Division. After heavy losses against the Red Army 's Division was disbanded in July 1944. After the reorganization of the Division in September 1944, Long served again as its commander. In this function was performed on 1 October 1944 in the region Koenigsberg was promoted to major general. Long fell on 16 April 1945 defensive battles in the hole dwellers forest near pillau.
