Joachim Kirst

Joachim Kirst ( born May 21, 1947 in Neunhofen, Neustadt an der Orla ) is a German track and field athlete and Olympian, who - starting for the GDR - was successful as a decathlete in the 1960s and 1970s. Height of his career were two European Championship victories in 1969 and 1971.

In 1970 he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze and 1971 silver.
