Joachim Puchner

Joachim Puchner ( born September 25, 1987 in Vöcklabruck ) is an Austrian alpine skier. He specializes in the speed disciplines Downhill and Super- G and is a member of since 2011 the national team of the Austrian Ski Federation ( Austrians ). Puchner was 2007 Vice World Junior champion in the super -G, 2010 Austrian champion in super-combined, reaching 2011, the first podium in the World Cup. His sister Miriam Puchner is also a ski racer.

Biography

Puchner was born in World Premiere Austria and moved one year old with his family to St. Johann im Pongau in Salzburg. He stood in 1990 for the first time on skis and went a year later the first children's race. Puchner graduated grammar school in St. Johann and began in the fall of 2010, he studied business economics at the Institute of Management in Hallwang. He was taken after the first successes in school race at the age of 14 years in the Salzburg youth squad and two years later in the junior squad of the Austrian Ski Federation ( Austrians ). After another three years, he rose up in the European Cup team and 2009 in the A-team. Since 2011 he is a member of the national team.

After reaching the age limit Puchner drove his first FIS race in December 2002. The first European Cup start was followed in January 2004, and from 2007 he was a regular in the European use. In 2006 he took part in the Junior World Championships in the Canadian province of Quebec and reached its best result eighth place in the giant slalom. A year later he won the silver medal in the Super G behind the Swiss Beat Feuz at the Junior World Championships 2007 in Altenmarkt. In addition, he came ninth in the downhill and giant slalom.

In the European Cup Puchner pulled one back to the top in the 2008/2009 season: He drove on December 4 in the Super -G at the Reiteralm first time on the podium and reached the rest of the season, including two fourth places in the slopes of Les Orres and Sarn Valley / Reinwald. So he finished each ranked seventh in the downhill and super-G standings and eleventh overall. On 16 January 2009 Puchner played his first World Cup race, but came, as well as in his next three World Cup starts this winter, not in the points. After a 16th place, scored in the classic combination of Kitzbühel in January 2010, had been his best result so far in the World Cup, he drove on January 29, 2011 in the descent from Chamonix to fourth place. On March 13, 2011 he succeeded with third place in the Super G in Kvitfjell the first podium, three days later with a second place in the downhill at the World Cup finals in Lenzerheide the second. Puchner was this winter in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, nominated for the first time for a major event, the World Cup 2011. He came there only in the super-combined for use, in which he finished in twelfth place.
