Joachim Schmillen

Joachim Schmillen (December 6, 1962 in Prüm ) is since September 2011 Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Peru.

Career

As part of officer training (1983-1988) at the Bundeswehr Schmillen studied from 1984 to 1988 at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich pedagogy and psychology. After graduation, he refused military service. From 1987 he was a member of the non-party deputies Alfred Mechtersheimer and in the 12th legislature (1990-1994 ), the Green MP Vera Stadtlengsfeld.

He then worked as office manager of the Group Chairman Joschka Fischer of Alliance 90/The Greens. With his appointment as Foreign Minister in 1998 Schmillen took over the position of chief clerk's office of the minister. Ambassador

In 2003 he followed Dick to the post of ambassador to Chile. In 2006, he was replaced there by Peter Scholz and appointed in July 2006 as ambassador to Nigeria, where he replaced Dietmar Kreusel. In September 2011, he was ambassador to Peru.
