Joachim Ziegler

Joachim Ziegler ( born October 18, 1904 in Hanau, † May 2, 1945 in Berlin) was an SS Brigadier and Major General of the Waffen- SS and the last commander of the 11th SS Volunteer Panzer Grenadier Division " Nordland ".

Life

Joachim Ziegler was born in 1904 as the son of a police officer. He joined in 1923 in the Reichswehr. During the Spanish Civil War, he was honored as a member of the Condor Legion to the Spanish Cross.

At the beginning of World War II, he served as captain of the Wehrmacht adjutant of the 3rd Panzer Brigade of the 3rd Panzer Division commanded. On 1 June 1943 he was ordered by the Wehrmacht, the Waffen- SS, serving from 20 June 1943 as Chief of the General Staff of the III. Germanic SS Panzer Corps. On November 9, 1943 he was the commanding granted permission in the Waffen -SS for the duration, to wear the uniform of an SS Upper Guide.
