Joan D. Vinge

Joan Carol Dennison Vinge (* April 2, 1948 in Baltimore, Maryland) is an American science fiction author.

Life

Vinge first studied art in college, but later changed her major and received her bachelor's degree in anthropology in 1971 from the San Diego State University.

In her first marriage she was married from 1972 to 1979 with the science fiction author Vernor Vinge. In 1980 she married the science fiction editor James Frenkel, with whom she has two children.

Your first story Tin Soldier could publish in 1974 in the anthology series Orbit 14. More stories followed in various science fiction magazines like Analog, Asimov 's Science Fiction and Omni as well as various anthologies.

In 1978 she received ( German: amber eyes ) for her story Eyes of Amber her first Hugo Award in 1981 for her novel The Snow Queen ( German: The Snow Queen ) another Hugo and the Locus Award. Her novel Psion (1982 ) was named by the American Library Association as one of the best books of the year for young adults. She was nominated for other awards, including, inter alia for the John W. Campbell Best New Writer Award.

My Return of the Jedi Storybook was the number one on the New York Times Book Review List and also the best-selling hardcover book in 1983 for two months.
