Joan Harrison (screenwriter)

Joan Harrison ( born June 26, 1907 in Guildford, Surrey; † August 14, 1994 in London) was a British screenwriter and television and film producer. She studied at Oxford and the Sorbonne in Paris.

Career

In 1935, Joan Harrison personal secretary with 28 years of Alfred Hitchcock and one of his closest aides. From Reef Pirates ( 1939) to Saboteurs (1942 ) she worked on five screenplays for Hitchcock's films. From 1944 she worked on screenplays for other directors and acted as a film producer at Universal Pictures and RKO Pictures. 1955 Hitchcock took her back to serve as a producer his television series Alfred Hitchcock Presents and The Alfred Hitchcock Hour.

1963 married Joan Harrison the writers and screenwriters Eric Ambler. In later years she served as producer and executive producer on the TV series Journey to the Unknown and The Most Deadly Game.
