Joan Lowell

Helen Joan Lowell ( born November 23, 1902 Berkeley, California, † November 7, 1967, Brasília, Brazil) was an American actress of the silent era and author.

Life

In 1929, she published a very successful autobiography, in which she describes how she, the daughter of a captain of her childhood on the high seas spends ( Cradle of the Deep, German Title I spit against the wind ), which later turned out as pure invention.

In the 1930s, Lowell worked as a journalist before she went with her second husband, a former ship captain, after Brazil. Her experiences in building a coffee plantation she described in her book The Land of Promise, German Title: Land of Promise.
