Joan Micklin Silver
Joan Micklin Silver studied music and literature, then worked as a music teacher for emotionally disturbed children. To film it came with the production of educational films on behalf of the Encyclopedia Britannica. With her first feature film " Hester Street," the story of an Orthodox Jewish woman who follows her husband from Russia to New York and meets an entirely different world, Silver had a great success. With " Between the Lines " she was able to continue the successful debut, the later films came with the critics and the audience less.
