Joan Plowright
Dame Joan Ann Plowright, DBE ( born October 28, 1929 in Brigg, North Lincolnshire, England) is a British actress, whose career has spanned over 70 productions.
Life
Plowright was awarded in 1961 for her role in A Taste of Honey with the Tony Award, in 1986 she won the London Drama Theatre Award for her role in House of Bernarda Alba. In her first marriage she was married from 1953 to 1960 with the actor Roger Gage. His second wife she was married from 1961 until his death in 1989 with the actor Sir Laurence Olivier, with whom she has three children: Richard (Director), Tamsin and Julie -Kate Olivier (both actresses ). 1970 her the title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire was awarded. In 2004 she was appointed Dame Commander.
