Joann Sfar

Joann Sfar ( born August 28, 1971 in Nice ) is a French comic book artist and film director.

Biography

Joann Sfar studied philosophy at the University of Nice and earned a master's degree in it before he nationale supérieure des beaux -arts de Paris studied art at the École. He works with other cartoonists as Tronchet and Emmanuel Guibert in a shared studio and is signatory and Comicszenarist a variety of series for children and adult audiences.

In The Rabbi's Cat Sfar, self- addressed Jew, Judaism in the Maghreb. As a signatory Sfar is valued for its almost sketchy nervous, virtuoso stroke.

At the Festival International de la Bande Dessinée d' Angoulême 1998 when he was awarded the Prix René Goscinny for the album La Fille du professeur. Also in Angoulême 2002 he won for his life's work the Grand Prix de la Ville d' Angoulême. In 2001 he was awarded the Prix International de la Ville de Genève pour la bande dessinée for L' Académie des Beaux -Arts (the first book in the series Le Minuscule Mousquetaire ).

In 2010, he was with Gainsbourg - The man who loved women his feature film debut as a director and screenwriter. In the biography of Serge Gainsbourg, the 2011 was nominated for eight César Awards, took Éric Elmosnino ( title role ), Lucy Gordon (as Jane Birkin ), Laetitia Casta ( Brigitte Bardot ), Anna Mouglalis (Juliette Greco) and Sara Forestier ( France Gall ) the lead roles. Gainsbourg won three César Award - best first novel, best actor ( Eric Elmosnino ) and for Best Editing.

During filming in 2010 for the film Gainsbourg drew and colored the French comic artist Mathieu Sapin the Feuille de Chou comic book (Journal d'un Tournage ), published by Guy Delcourt Productions, Paris.

After his directorial debut Sfar filmed together with Antoine Delesvaux several parts of his comic series The Rabbi's Cat to an animated feature film. Le Chat du rabbin was released in early June in France and earned him the award for the best feature film of the Festival d' Animation Annecy and a César.
